A hybrid car is power by gasoline and electricity. The electricity that powers the vehicle is from the rechargeable batteries under the hood. When the batteries go empty they must be recharged. You need a wall socket , a plug, a cord and some electricity to recharge the batteries, it's easy. When you are on the road and the battery goes empty you switch to gasoline and you don't have no worries.

A good thing about hybrid cars is that batteries charge when you are using gasoline says Howard Wilner. You should use gasoline everytime when batteries charge is between 30-45 percent, never below this values !!! To give the batteries a long life never fully charge them, the charge should be 90 percent and never go under 40 percent charge. Howard Wilner tested how much ground you can cover with the battery power and the results say that the bateries charged at 90 percent can give you 70,000 to 100,000 miles. The results depend on the drive style, the battery manufacturer and the location.
